Oumuamua: The First known interstellar visitor to our solar system

Astronomers have confirmed that the recently observed comet is an interstellar traveler. It was originated from somewhere else in the galaxy. The astronomers called this new kind of astronomical object as "Oumuamua". This Hawaiian origin name means that a messenger from a long distance.

Oumuamua was observed by  Pan-STARRS 1 telescope in Hawaii on October 19th. By studying the orbit of the object scientist confirmed that this object is from interstellar space.

Karen Meech an astronomer at University of Hawaii's Institute of Astronomy is the leader of the research team of this discovery, The comet is officially named as A/2017 U1 by the international astronomical union.

Due to the millions of years of the cosmic radiation the long rocky object turned burnt dark-reddish hue. The object has a diameter of about 160 meters. The orbit of ordinary comets has an eccentricity less than one but this interstellar comet has eccentricity greater than one.

The object came from the direction of the constellation Lyra.Astronomers are expecting more such objects from this direction.
